What mountain are you facing?\u00a0 Australians know much about moving mountains.\u00a0 We have shifted Mount Tom Price, Iron Knob, Mount Hamersley, Mount Isa, the Snowy Mountains and Broken Hill.\u00a0 We can shift mountains by using heavy machinery.\u00a0 But how can you shift mountains by faith?<\/p>\n
With faith you require only two things: work and persistence!<\/p>\n
I had to shift a hill once.\u00a0 In 1972 my wife and I purchased an elevated one-storey house.\u00a0 I decided to turn it into a two-storey house.\u00a0 As I could not lift it up, I decided to go down.\u00a0 The house was 45 feet long and 25 feet wide.\u00a0 We had to go down about four to six feet.\u00a0 There was not enough room under the house for a machine so it had to be done with a shovel.<\/p>\n
I said to the mountain of earth, \u2018Move from here to there!\u2019\u00a0 The Lord said to me, \u2018Get a pick, a shovel and a wheelbarrow.\u2019<\/p>\n
I got under the house and started digging.\u00a0 I filled up a wheelbarrow and wheeled it to the front.\u00a0 We had half an acre of land on a gentle hill, so I started building up the bottom of the hill.\u00a0 Then another barrow.\u00a0 And another.\u00a0 Then fifty.\u00a0 Every Monday for months, with a pick, a hovel and a barrow, I said to the Lord, \u2018Move this mountain\u2019 and the Lord said, \u2018Wheel the barrow!\u2019<\/p>\n
Gradually I began to see a hole under the house.\u00a0 It was then I discovered a second great truth about dirt.\u00a0 More comes out of a hole than was in there originally.\u00a0 A hundred barrows of earth levelled the front lawn.\u00a0 Two hundred barrows of earth meant that the block beside us was now level.\u00a0 Meanwhile, we had to bring in truckloads of sand and metal.\u00a0 I mixed and barrowed hundreds of loads of concrete.<\/p>\n
Then I fitted in new house stumps and a huge steel beam under the floor.\u00a0 I installed a dozen windows and built dividing walls.\u00a0 In went the first rumpus room, then the laundry.\u00a0 Through the earth moving the house began to grow.\u00a0 After two years I had shifted enough earth to add a garage and a workshop.\u00a0 I kept saying to the Lord, \u2018Move this mountain,\u2019 and the Lord replied each time, \u2018Keep wheeling.\u00a0 You and I are in this together.\u2019\u00a0 (I said, \u2018Yes, Lord, but I\u2019, the one who\u2019s getting hot!\u2019)<\/p>\n
Slowly the front lawn area became smooth.\u00a0 Then came more concrete and finally the big, double rumpus room.\u00a0 Seven years after I began digging, the hill was at last removed.\u00a0 We finished the walls.\u00a0 We put up the table tennis table.\u00a0 The furniture was in and the carpet was down, and we had a house double its original size and triple its value.\u00a0 Everything was beautiful.<\/p>\n
Then, just as I finish, Wesley Mission said, \u2018Come to Sydney!\u2019<\/p>\n
When we put our Victorian home on the market, an interested purchaser said, \u2018What a lovely front lawn you have!\u2019\u00a0 He didn\u2019t know\u00a0that faith, plus work, plus persistence had doubled the size of a house and turned a hill into a smooth lawn.<\/p>\n
You can shift mountains from here to there with faith and persistent work.\u00a0 These were the words of Jesus: \u2018If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, \u201cMove from here to there\u201d and it will move.\u00a0 Nothing will be impossible for you.\u2019 Matthew 17:20 That is His promise.<\/p>\n
I believe that what the mind can conceive and the heart can believe, the will can achieve.\u00a0 All thing are possible to those who have faith.\u00a0 If you don\u2019t think something is possible, you will be right.\u00a0 But if you think it is<\/i> possible, you will be right!\u00a0 Only faith achieves.<\/p>\n
