{"id":230,"date":"2019-08-03T09:30:11","date_gmt":"2019-08-02T23:30:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/edmonton-adventist.org.au\/wpcontent\/?p=230"},"modified":"2019-09-10T09:31:46","modified_gmt":"2019-09-09T23:31:46","slug":"our-heavenly-fathers-gifts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/edmonton-adventist.org.au\/wpcontent\/?p=230","title":{"rendered":"Our Heavenly Fathers Gifts"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>From Youth Prays God Answers.<\/p>\n<p>Sometimes the Lord uses neighbours like Mrs Garrison to bring answers to prayers.\u00a0 At least He did in this case.<\/p>\n<p>Esther was baptised and became a member of the Seventh-day Adventist church as the result of the payers and efforts of members of the prayer class.\u00a0 With two small children and expecting the third soon, it was inevitable that a washing machine of some kind would have to be purchased.\u00a0 But they had no money.\u00a0 Mrs Garrison, the good neighbour, heard about it, and went over to see Eli and Esther, saying, \u201cLet\u2019s pray about it.\u201d\u00a0 Claiming the promise in 3rd John 2, \u201cBeloved, I wish above all things that you may prosper\u2026.\u201d\u00a0 Then they thanked the Lord for hearing them and awaited the answer.<\/p>\n<p>Later, Mrs Garrison, passing by the College Market, was impressed to stop and read the ads on the bulletin board.\u00a0 \u201cFOR SALE,\u201d She read, \u201cNEW KENMORE AUTOMATIC WASHER-DRIER.\u201d She knew that Esther and Eli could hardly afford the old type washer, let alone on like this one; but faith was strong and she was soon talking to the owner on the phone.\u00a0 Yes, she still had it, and would be glad for them to see it.\u00a0 She was asking one hundred dollars for it.\u00a0 Mrs Garrison explained the situation and plans were made for them to see it.<\/p>\n<p>Like most women, Esther was excited over the prospects of owning an automatic washer for the first time in her life!\u00a0 But when her eyes beheld it, she exclaimed, \u201cOh! What a beautiful machine!\u00a0 We could never afford one like this!\u201d\u00a0 How the Lord must delight in opening the windows of heaven and showering blessings and happiness upon His children.\u00a0 The lady looked at Esther and said, \u201cI\u2019ve just been offered one hundred and fifty dollars cash for this machine, but I\u2019m willing to let you have it for twenty-fie dollars.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDid you say one hundred and twenty-five dollars?\u201d Esther asked.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo, \u201c said twenty-five dollars.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Esther was so excited she was almost in tears.\u00a0 \u201cOnly God would do such a thing for me,\u201d she exclaimed.<\/p>\n<p>Eli was almost as happy as Esther.\u00a0 They paid the lady and then Eli immediately began to see about the installation.\u00a0 To his great dismay he discovered that the house had not been wired for the type of service they needed to operate the machine they had just purchased.\u00a0 This posed a real problem not easily solved.\u00a0 Eli began to wonder, \u201cNow why would God do a think like that? He allowed us to buy a washer we can\u2019t use!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Again the good neighbour came to the rescue.\u00a0 \u201cEli,\u201d she said, \u201cdidn\u2019t I hear you talking about finding another house?\u00a0 We\u2019ll just ask the Lord for a house for you.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A few days later Eli came home with some exciting news.\u00a0 He had found a house that he liked very much.\u00a0 There was only one think wrong.\u00a0 The rent was two high.\u00a0 Sure enough, after they prayed about it the rent was reduced to a very affordable amount.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>From Youth Prays God Answers.
