\u201cMy husband and I were worried.\u00a0 It had been two years since we had started the process to adopt little Kimber and still she wasn\u2019t our own,\u201d said Minnie Porter, a member of the prayer class.<\/p>\n
Kimber was four months old when we first got her.\u00a0 Our attorney was having difficulty locating the real mother, in order to obtain her signature on the adoption papers.\u00a0 A whole year went by before it was secured.<\/p>\n
Then it seems, no matter what we did or how many times we contacted him, the attorney kept putting off the signing of the final adoption papers.\u00a0 We had tried every thing humanly possible to bring about the signature, but for another whole year we were being put off.\u00a0 This procedure should have take a maximum of six weeks after the signing of the adoption papers.\u00a0 We were still waiting after two years!<\/p>\n
I was getting desperate.\u00a0 Suppose Kimber\u2019s father should come and try to claim the baby.\u00a0 I couldn\u2019t give Kimber up now.\u00a0 She was the light of my life.\u00a0 If only there was something I could do to force the attorney to act.<\/p>\n
About this time, Elder Coon conducted a series of meetings on prayer in our church.\u00a0 I was thrilled when I heard the first study.\u00a0 I wanted to learn more, but found that the class being taught on The Prayer of Reception was restricted to the young people.\u00a0 My husband suggested that we begin claiming promises by ourselves, but I simply told him that I didn’t know enough about it to do it intelligently.<\/p>\n
Then we heard of another class that was being opened in La Sierra.\u00a0 This one was open to all age groups, so my husband and I both signed up immediately.\u00a0 There we learned HOW to claim promises and pray the prayer of reception.<\/p>\n
In the morning we had our morning devotion and I was claiming the promise for \u2018life\u2019 for the party chosen by our prayer band.\u00a0 While in prayer, the thought came to me, \u2018Why not claim a promise for our littler Kimber?\u00a0 God knows how much we love her and want to keep her.\u00a0 So I started searching my Bible for a promise that I could claim.<\/p>\n
My eye\u2019s fell on the text in Psalms 37:4, \u2018Commit your way unto the Lord; trust also in Him; and He shall bring it to pass.\u2019\u00a0 I placed my finger upon this text and prayed, \u2018Dear Lord, You<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
